Pros and Cons: Ceramic Tile Flooring Installation
Ceramic tile is made from a combination of sand, clay, and water. Ceramic tile is the most popular tile installed. While some ceramic tile cannot handle foot traffic (typically found on walls and counters), others are made especially for commercial and industrial installations that experience extremely heavy foot traffic. Tile flooring is very functional and versatile.

  The Good:
  - Versatile - Durable and strong once installed - Wide variety of colors and textures - Good water and stain resistance - Easy to wipe clean - Ideal in warmer climates
  The Bad:
  - Low quality tiles will chip and crack - Can be very slippery - Grout lines can be difficult to clean - Tile color can vary by batch - Not ideal for outdoor installations - Feel cold to the touch in the winter - Very little foot support
  The Bottom Line:
Ceramic tile is very versatile. It can be installed in a wide variety of patterns with different borders and inlays. Ceramic tile is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms. Tile is very popular flooring option in the southwestern United States and other warmer climates. In colder climates, ceramic tile can be very cold in the winter. A radiant heat system can be installed under bathroom tile if necessary. Before purchasing any floor tiles, make sure that the wear rating can handle moderate to heavy foot traffic.
